Celebrating its 50th this winter, Sugarbush skiers will enjoy an experience that is a little different from the days of long thongs and bear trap bindings.  Watch for fireworks!

Mad River is 60 in 2009

Celebrate with Mad River the self-described older sister of Sugarbush.  Almost 10 years older.  More to come....

Mad River Glen

So what is it that makes Mad River Glen an icon and a mountain that people love so much? It's a combination of many things and for every skier the answer is a little different. Mad River Glen offers the most challenging and diverse terrain in New England with an uphill capacity that guarantees low skier density on the trails even on the busiest days. It is one of the last bastions of natural snow skiing in New England and is one of only four areas in North America that prohibits the use of snowboards.

Well, they say it better than we.  Check out this classic Vermont ski resort. Thanks for the photos, guys.

NEW BOOK ABOUT MAD RIVER.  A keeper,  A Mountain Love Affair, The Story of Mad River Glen by Mary K. Kerr has just hit the stands.  Mary is a close friend and a great writer, too.  You may remember her days as publisher of the Valley Reporter.  Her book is full of Mad River tales and great old photos.  Get a copy, there were only about 2500 published....
